Finding your local sleep centre

There are only a handful of major sleep centres in the UK that are able to diagnose the full range of sleep disorders. However, there are a number of sleep clinics run within NHS hospital practices that treat narcolepsy as well as other sleep disorders.

If you or your clinician suspects you are suffering from narcolepsy, it is recommended that you are referred to a specialised sleep clinic where experts have the facilities, experience and expertise to accurately assess, diagnose and advise on treatment.

Some GPs may want to refer you to a general neurology or psychiatric department but encourage your GP to get a referral to a consultant with experience in sleep medicine ideally in a sleep centre where full assessments may be carried out.
